On Tuesday GGD starts vaccinating people over 90 living at home | NOW

The GGD will start on Tuesday 26 January with the vaccination of mobile, over-90s living at home. This is earlier than actually planned, but it is possible due to the change in the vaccination strategy by Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health, the umbrella organization reports GGD-GHOR Sunday night.

On Wednesday, the GGD will start giving healthcare staff the second vaccination. This comes three weeks after this staff received their first injection.

A general practitioner has noted that the over-90s concerned are sufficiently mobile to be able to come to an injection site on their own. From Tuesday, they will receive invitations from their own GP. They can then immediately make an appointment from that day.

At the end of the week, older people living at home in the age category 85 to 90 years are given a turn. This concerns approximately 220,000 elderly people who are invited in phases. This is related to the delivery of the vaccines.

The GGD expects to be able to perform 200,000 vaccinations every week in the course of February. That number should increase even further in the following months.
