When will Koeman be sacked?
Barca’s schedule is tight, after being balanced by Granada, Tuesday (21/9) WIB, they will visit Cadiz’s cage, Friday (24/9) WIB, before hosting Levante tomorrow Sunday (26/9).
They chose to be careful and did not make decisions in the midst of a busy schedule, especially since they still haven’t appointed a successor and are still experiencing financial difficulties making it difficult to make up for Koeman’s dismissal.
However, Barca are close to raising the €12 million needed to terminate the incumbent coach’s contract which expires in the summer of 2022.
After the domestic match, Barca also still have to play in the Champions League against Benfica, before challenging defending champions Atletico Madrid, which is reinforced by former: Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.
The second international break for the 2021/22 season is scheduled for mid-October, and that is when Barca are expected to take action – sack Koeman – unless he is able to change the fate of his side who currently sit seventh in the table.
Who will be appointed as successor?
Goal understand that the next coach who will work at the Camp Nou will not be a patchwork appointment, and they have started laying out long-term plans.
The former captain, Xavi Hernandez, has been strongly linked with a return to Catalunya and has not been shy about wanting to return to Barca as coach one day.
But he is still contracted with Qatari club Al Sadd and is not Joan Laporta’s first choice.
At the moment they prefer Martinez, although he also still has a contract.
The Spanish coach still has a Nations League semi-final with Belgium in October, and has already qualified for the 2022 World Cup.
