Rapper Kanye West opened the Balenciaga show on Sunday, which was held on muddy ground in Villepinte, north of Paris, on the fringes of Paris Fashion Week and away from the glamor of its traditional runways.
West, a friend of the Georgian designer Balenciaga Demna, wore leather pants and a black multi-pocket jacket, a hat under the hood and two large trainers. His former life partner and “Balenciaga” muse, Kim Kardashian, was in front of the audience during the show, which was held in a workshop venue, where he reeked of strong mud.
Attention was drawn to the accessories worn by the male models, such as baby carriers, colorful and infantile bags, large pink shopping bags and square shoulder bags with integrated sleeves, which are among the highlights of the Spring 2023 and Summer 2023 collections.
As for the models, they did not hesitate to walk on the muddy ground in high boots, wearing pink, white or black bodycon dresses, bright and transparent dresses, or silver dresses or veils.
In the memorandum relating to the show, the Georgian designer of the collection, who recently announced that he is satisfied with his name (Dimna) without his fame (Gvasalia), will no longer provide any explanation for his designs.
Following the example of other designers who do not accompany their shows with any statements, Dimna felt that fashion is a “visual art” and therefore “does not need a story to sell it”.
He called Dimna to love “instead of war” after his previous performance last March was a tribute to Ukraine, which was witnessing the beginning of the Russian invasion of its lands.
Dimna, who left his small country, Georgia, in the middle of the war with Russia, became one of the “ambassadors” of the “United24” platform, dedicated to collecting donations for the reconstruction of Ukraine, last summer. .
Balenciaga has put a sweatshirt on the market, which will be used to help Ukrainian refugees from its sale.
