On the M1 highway near Dzerzhinsk, a MAZ flew into a truck

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported a serious accident on the M1 highway: not far from the agricultural town of Zabolotye, Dzerzhinsky district, Minsk region, on Monday, December 11, a MAZ truck and a Volvo truck collided there. The truck driver was trapped in the cab, so rescuers had to be called in.

Rescuers were informed about the accident at 08:50 on December 11, reported in the Minsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the truck driver’s lower body had been pinned in the cab by the dashboard as a result of the collision. He remained conscious, but could not get out without outside help.

“We immediately opened the door to get to the panel and used a pneumatic jack to press it out, then freed the leg from the cabin,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said and showed a video from the scene.

After this, the victim was handed over to the ambulance crew, who took him to the hospital. The driver of the truck that the truck crashed into was not injured. Later he said more told portal Onliner about the circumstances of the accident.

According to the man, before the collision with the MAZ, his truck was carried into the oncoming lane, and the cab was turned around, so the impact fell on its side – otherwise the collision would have been head-on and, possibly, with more dire consequences for the second driver. The driver of the truck explained that he was driven into oncoming traffic because of the snow-covered road.

“The road got worse and worse – the stripes were no longer visible, everything was covered with snow. I moved along the track left by my partner. At some point, I turned a little to the left so as not to collide with a passing car, and I was carried toward the median. There were big snowdrifts and the car started to swerve. While I was trying to straighten out, I found myself already in oncoming traffic,” the man said.

According to him, after the cab of the truck turned around and stopped, “literally two seconds later” a MAZ “flew into it.” At the same time, the man is convinced that the truck driver “had the opportunity to pull over to the side of the road.”

Telegraf previously told how at the end of November a MAZ dump truck, which was transporting salt from Soligorsk to Fanipol, overturned on the Slutsk highway. The truck trailer went into a ditch.
