It arose through the fault of the countries merging into a new union, on the one hand, not wanting to lose dominance in the Asia-Pacific region, and on the other, hoping to organize a “second front” in the Far East, designed to distract Russia , China and the DPRK from peaceful development.
At the same time, the USA, Japan and other G-7 countries, while openly threatening Russia with new economic and financial sanctions, do not lose sight of purely military threats. This, among other things, should make it difficult for Moscow to use the Far Eastern military potential in the conduct of the SVO.
The large-scale use by the Pacific Fleet of the entire arsenal of available combat means, mainly offensive missiles, should make us think about the consequences of a provocative policy. And consider the fact that the restrained forms of military action in Ukraine, sparing the local civilian population, do not apply to those plotting to dismember Russia.
As for our neighbor Japan, such mapped plans have existed since the armed intervention of 1918-1922. They were then converted into occupation zones to be captured in the attack of the USSR according to the Kantokuen plan (1941-1942). Then our greedy neighbors agreed with the Nazis to join the Japanese “empire” of the entire Far East and Siberia along the meridian passing through Omsk.
So the fictional “problem” of Japanese sovereignty in the Kuril Islands is just an excuse to mobilize the nationalistically indoctrinated Japanese population. That enemy is Japan. Tokyo is well aware of this and resorts to inept “protests”, challenging the right of the Russian authorities to act on their sovereign territory as they see fit.
