Piding. On Sunday, November 15, 2020, on the A8, at the Piding rest area, a British Ford Focus was checked by the veil investigators from the Piding Border Police. When requested, the 19-year-old Bulgarian driver showed “his” driver’s license. During the check, however, it quickly turned out that it was not his, but the driver’s license of the 20-year-old passenger. After the unsuccessful attempt at deception, the driver told the investigators that he had forgotten his driver’s license at home. This protection claim refuted a query in the 19-year-old’s home country, which revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s license there either.
Finally, a check of the car revealed that there was no valid insurance coverage for it. The possibility of a further journey by vehicle to Bulgaria was thus finally over for the travelers.
The driver of the vehicle was reported to have been driving without a license, misusing identification documents and driving without valid insurance. The co-driver, as a so-called surrender of the driving license, has to answer criminally for misuse of identification documents. A further journey by car was prevented.
