With the first Advent, the residents of Dome Square will be delighted by the spruce “Kraukšķītis”, the design of which was created by SIA “First service” and the artist Kristaps Štobis.
Another spruce “Candy” created by him will be decorated on the embankment on November 11 after December 2.
In turn, in the Town Hall Square you will see a Christmas tree “Forest Fairy Tale”, created by SIA “United workshops” and artist Jānis Ezers.
In anticipation of Christmas, a festive Christmas tree will be created in the parks and squares, as well as on the embankment of November 11, residents and guests of the city will be delighted by the string of light bulbs in the city streets and environmental design “Laika āderes telpa” in Vērmane garden. The holiday posters, which will be displayed in the urban environment, have been created by the artist Lote Vilma Vītiņa, emphasizing the idea of cozy, safe, warm, blessed, heartfelt, joyful and special holidays.

At the First Advent, Riga St. In St. Peter’s Church, with the participation of the vocal group “Universum” – singers Kristīne Barkovska, Inga Martinsone, Baiba Rudzīte, Egils Jākobsons, Rihards Rudzītis, as well as musicians Raimonds and Oskars Petrauskas, there will be a concert “Christmas II”.
In turn, a chamber music concert “Strings. Voices. Electroacoustics” will be streamed from the Riga Latvian Society House, featuring the vocal group “Birds”, performers Stanislavs Judins, Ilona Dzērve, Uģis Prauliņš and NeoQartet from Poland.
A concert for young people “OP.2” from the cultural center “Small Guild” will also be shown online. Stanislavs Judins will play music and Asnate Rancāne will sing.
From the first Advent, every Sunday until December 20, children will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus in the Tea House of the Culture Palace “Ziemeļblāzma” park, observing the precautionary requirements set by the country. From December 1 to December 30, the Riga Porcelain Museum will have a Christmas decoration workshop, the visit of which must be booked in advance.
In turn, in the cultural center “Small Guild”, visitors will have the opportunity to see Iris Irbe’s solo exhibition “Growth”.
The festive mood of the city will be felt not only on Advent Sundays, but also on weekdays. On December 2, in the cycle of podcasts “Dinner” of the cultural center “Ritums”, Kārlis Anitens will invite Julgī Stalti, the head of the folk friends’ group “Skandinieki”, a representative of Liv culture, to a conversation about the meaning of folklore rituals.
On December 3, the large-scale production “Fairy Tale about Skalbi” will be broadcast from the Culture Palace “Ziemeļblāzma” on Latvian Radio 6 and LU Radio “NABA”. The young actors Rihards Zelezņevs and Agris Krapivņickis will take part in it, but Imants Daksis, Juris Kaukulis, Evija Vēbere, Toms Mikāls, Elizabete Balčus, “Inokentijs Mārpls”, “Orange Holidays” and Roberts Gobziņš will take care of the musical design. The performance of the musicians will be supplemented by the artists of audiovisual solutions – Klāra Grundšteine, Valters Mednieks and Kaspars Kalniņš.
While waiting for the holiday, the environmental art object “Gate of Honor” will feature thematic video programs “My gold is my beloved”, “My gold is my home”, as well as the current message and reminder “My gold is my health”. The authors of the programs are video artist Māris Kalve and creative director Kaspars Eglītis.
