Four years after its release, the PC version of the western action game Red Dead Redemption 2 set a new personal record for popularity in Steam.

On November 26, the Steam version of Red Dead Redemption 2 simultaneously had 77 655 users. The previous record (70,914) was recorded on January 29 this year. 95% of reviews left by customers over the past 30 days were positive (in total, more than 22.1 thousand reviews were published during this time).
The increase in interest in the game is due to the autumn sale (until 21:00 Moscow time on November 28, the basic edition of the action game is offered for 67%, and the Ultimate Edition – 70% cheaper), but only partly, since it receives such a discount quite often. Apparently, the upcoming release of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, which will take place in early December (possibly in the early morning of December 8th as part of The Game Awards 2023), also played a role.
Sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to grow, with more than 57 million copies sold across all platforms combined. Such information is given in Take-Two Interactive’s report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2024 (July 1 – September 30, 2023).

The popularity of the sequel continues despite the fact that last year Rockstar Games said goodbye to the online component of the project. In September 2022 the company left in the Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online update, a message to its employees thanking them for creating the games. Two months earlier, the authors announced about a significant reduction in support for the action game (no major content updates have appeared since then) and a switch to the development of the next Grand Theft Auto.
Modders are not abandoning the game either. Among other things, over the past year, enthusiasts restored replicas cut by the developers expanded the gameplay possibilities due to unique scripts for NPCs (allowing, for example, to play the piano or sleep on beds) and mechanics punching objects with bulletsadded unofficial NVIDIA DLSS 3 support (double productivity increase), New Game+ mode, random eventsregion Nuevo Paraiso and horses from the first partand also improved textures, effects and physics.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on October 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on November 5, 2019 on PC. The PS4 version has Metacritic same rating (97/100) as Grand Theft Auto V для PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 и Xbox One. According to rumors, the sequel will move to the Nintendo Switch after the first game.
During the fall sale, the shooter Battlefield V also updated its own online record.
