Nursing day is not only a good reason to thank nursing staff. Every year on May 12, attention is also drawn to all other professional groups that ensure good care for people with illnesses, disabilities or the elderly. For example, the senior citizens’ aid of the St. Augustinus Group came up with something special for their employees under the motto “Think of yourself too”: around 1,200 gift bags were packed for the day of care, with which the employees of all ten senior citizens’ facilities were surprised became.

“We can only take good care of the people who confide in us and care for them if we also take care of ourselves,” says Silvia Schramm from the Memory Center in Neuss. She has just written her master’s thesis in the field of company health management and found that good and loving care also includes self-care, regular exchange with each other and the courage and acceptance of respecting the individually different stress limits.

“We would like to thank all our employees with the campaign, but also encourage them to be careful with themselves,” adds Evelyn Klasen, Managing Director of the Seniorenhilfe. The small gifts in the surprise bags, such as scented oil, hand cream and tea, are meant to invite you to relax. The day of action was rounded off with a joint breakfast in the morning and delicious muffins in the afternoon. There was an energy shot for the night shift employees. In addition, all employees of the senior citizens’ facilities were able to enjoy a soothing massage from cooperating physiotherapies.

In the other corporate divisions of the St. Augustinus Group, such as the Johanna Etienne Hospital, the Disabled Aid, the Niederrhein Clinic in Korschenbroich or the Neuwerk Hospital in Mönchengladbach, the employees were thanked on the day of care with a wide variety of campaigns. According to the St. Augustinus Group, especially in times of acute shortage of nursing staff, it is essential that the employees do not lose the fun in their important work and the motivation for their self-sacrificing work.
