On the Côte d’Azur tourism professionals are worried. As the summer vacation draws near, vacationers are long overdue. According to the Regional Tourism Committee, losses will exceed one billion euros.

One week before the start of the summer holidays, the beaches of the Côte d’Azur do not fill up, much to the delight of summer visitors:
“We are out of time, we feel like we are in another era because there is no one”
Campsite managers are worried. In Villeneuve-Loubet the campsite managed by Yves Montferrant, president of the outdoor hotel trade union is almost empty:
“I have 108 locations and I hardly have more than 15 installations occupied, whereas I usually have at least 60% of them.”
The luxury hotel also is in crisis, and lowers prices for European customers in the absence of Russians, Americans and Chinese.For the economy of the region this situation is catastrophic. Each year the Côte d’Azur welcomes 11 million tourists. The hotel and restaurant sectors are the top two industries on the Côte d’Azur, so the Regional Tourism Committee (CRT) reacts by presenting a vast recovery plan. The CRT announced on Thursday 25 June that it had released 2 million euros to support the resumption of activity of tourism professionals from the Côte d’Azur.Since mid-June, an advertising campaign has been launched on television channels, a poster campaign has been implemented in Paris, Lyon and in the Great South. At the same time, partnerships have been made with transport companies.
Business tourism is not forgotten. A promotional campaign will begin in the fall.
