Composer Jēkabs Jančevskis said about the song “Maybe in Eternity”: “The month of Ziedonis has begun. Both in nature and in poetry. , inspired by lines written by Imants Ziedonis about non-meeting. But perhaps on the contrary – about meeting elsewhere, sometimes, differently. ” ” for people we don’t meet as often as we’d like, for memories that fade faster than we’d like. And for love that continues to swell through the millennia, flourishing again and again.
The collaboration between the Riga Dome Choir School (RDKS) mixed choir, its artistic director Jurģis Cābulis and composer Jēkabs Jančevskis has already been a success – in 2019 Jančevskis received the main prize in the composition recording competition “Rostrum 2019” organized by UNESCO for the composition “When”. RDKS mixed choir and cellist Kristaps Bergs participated. In February 2020, the prestigious British classical music label “Hyperion Records” released Jančevsky’s first choral music album “Aeternum” – sung by RDKS mixed choir conducted by Jurģis Cābuļs. Both Jēkabs Jančevskis, RDKS Mixed Choir and Jurģis Cābulis are the winners of the “Grand Music Prize 2021”. Jančevskis received the award in the category “Composer of the Year”, but the performance of the RDKS mixed choir – the concert “AMAO OMI | Pointless War” – was recognized as the title of “Concert of the Year”. All three musicians – Jēkabs Jančevskis, Jurģis Cābulis and Daumants Kalniņš – are also graduates of the Riga Dome Choir School.
