Recently released Osvaldas Zebra’s latest work – “Doubt”. It is a collection of stories that echoes the work of the writers who are important to him. Among other things, the author focuses on his relationship with writing. –
Asked how long after the publication of the book the feeling of a holiday stops for the writer, Osvalds Zebris answers in the Latvian Radio program “Kultūras rondo”: “It is very different. In general, the feeling of celebration is mainly when I understand what I want to say in a particular story and how I want to say it. [..] When the book is published, of course, it is very nice to see him on the covers, but its main pleasures have already passed. ”
Continuing from what is written in the book “Doubts”, its author calls the word “mine” – these are ten poets and writers (Regina Ezera, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Arseny Tarkovsky, Astrid Lindgren, Ojars Vācietis and others) to whom he has dedicated stories:
“I really wanted to capture, at this stage of my life, those of my like-minded writers, who they were or are in the relatively recent past.
[..] Probably this is a book about relationships between people and definitely about relationships with literature. ”
Zebris describes his stories as a result of synthesis, of course, with a handful of creativity: I would definitely not try to imitate or continue thematically what was important to a particular writer or writer, poet or poet, but somehow
I tried to articulate in myself what it was all about. ”
He hopes that the stories will become an incentive for someone to get to know the texts of the highlighted authors.
It should be noted that the result of the beautiful synthesis of the cover of the collection is Lindgrene Carlson with Dostoevsky’s face. The writer’s intention was implemented by Roberts Zitmanis.
