There are two candidates for rector on Agricultural University Plovdiv, after the mandate of the current Prof. Dr. Hristina Yancheva has expired and she has no right to apply for a new one. These are Assoc. Dr. Boryana Ivanova (b. 1975), until now holding the position of Deputy Rector for Academic Activities, and Prof. Dr. Vladislav Popov (b. 1967), until now holding the position of Deputy Rector for scientific and project activity.
The choice is scheduled for March 7, 2024, when the General Assembly of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv is convened. Then, in addition to a new rector, the 167 delegates will elect a new academic council of the university.
Assoc. Dr. Boryana Ivanova graduated from UNSS – Sofia, where she obtained bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in economics and agricultural management.
Prof. Dr. Vladislav Popov studied at the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in Moscow, and later obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree from VSI-Plovdiv, majoring in Plant Protection with a specialization in Agroecology. He completed his second master’s degree at the Agricultural University of Wageningen, the Netherlands, and his doctorate at the University of Western Sydney, Australia.
