Hamburg – The date and program are now set!
As part of their first trip abroad as the new royal couple, King Charles III. and Queen Camilla visit the Hanseatic city on March 31st.
Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) will receive the royal couple in the town hall for an entry in the city’s golden book, the Senate press office announced on Friday. At the invitation of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, King Charles III. together with Camilla and a delegation from March 29th to March 31st the Federal Republic of Germany. Other stops on the state visit in addition to Hamburg are Berlin and Brandenburg.
Mayor Tschentscher: “The visit of King Charles III. and Queen Consort Camilla is a great honor for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. It strengthens the good relations between the United Kingdom and the Hanseatic city, which is considered the “most British city on the continent”.
In Hamburg, a visit to the St. Nikolai memorial is on the agenda. The church was destroyed when the city was bombed by the Allies during World War II. Charles III and the Federal President lay wreaths at a short commemoration ceremony.
In the port, Charles III informs himself. about the use of climate-friendly technologies and meets representatives of some of the companies involved.
At the end of the state visit, the King and Queen-Consort, together with the Federal President and Ms. Büdenbender, will take part in a celebratory reception with guests from Hamburg and the local British community. (swim)
