The delegates have recently reached Arunachal and are rumored to visit Tawang on March 26th. Later, the delegates attended a meeting, followed by a visit to the Thupten Gatseling Monastery. Here, they immersed themselves in the local culture and were treated to some delightful musical performances. From there, they proceeded to the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, where they were briefed about the state’s rich cultural heritage and history.
In the evening, the delegates were treated to a cultural programme at the state assembly. The entire day was packed with activities that showcased the state’s culture and traditions.
The next day, the delegates were scheduled to visit Tawang, a border town situated at the China-India border. However, sources have said that the visit will depend on the weather conditions in the area. From there, they will travel to Guwahati, the capital of Assam state.
Reflecting on the significance of the G20 meeting in his state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu called it a “geo-political and diplomatic event” that demonstrated the spirit of brotherhood embodied by the mantra of “One Earth, One Family and One Future.” He said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh lived in harmony with nature and had adopted the Pakke Declaration-2047, which pledged to make the state carbon-negative and combat climate change through sustainable development practices.
Itanagar, the state capital, was beautifully decorated with flags representing the member countries of the G20, as well as posters and banners for the event. The visit by the international delegates was a significant event that showcased the state’s culture and traditions, and highlights its efforts to combat climate change and preserve the environment.
