Locals and hoteliers are currently not really on good terms with German tourists. The reason is a torched bar that 13 drunk cone brothers are said to have set on fire – several of them firefighters. They are currently in the largest prison on the holiday island, refuse to testify and are waiting for their trial.
With the summer holidays starting soon, the island now wants to take action against drunkards. And in a different way than in previous years: with photos that are published directly on Twitter. This pillory is meant to bring them to their senses. After all, who wants to be seen in an embarrassing pose by their boss or girlfriend on social media?
«Residents will upload photos»
“Por una Playa de Palma Cívica” (For a decent Playa de Palma) is the name of the initiative, like that «Mallorca-Zeitung» reported. From next week, the grievances are to be uploaded to social networks as photos and videos. This is most visible on Twitter, where the “@PdPcivica” channel is scheduled to go online next week. “Residents, workers or shopkeepers will then upload photos to draw attention to the problems,” said José Antonio Fernández de Alarcón, vice-president of the hoteliers’ association, the “Mallorca-Zeitung”.
