Summary of Sunday, February 7
The epidemic situation in the Czech Republic is not improving, the decline in daily infections infected in recent days has stopped despite ongoing restrictions, and hospitals are still congested. Stagnation was probably caused by i spread of the so-called British mutation coronavirus. According to preliminary data, this more contagious variant was proven in about ten percent of the samples analyzed so far, said the head of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics Ladislav Dušek.
Vaccination against the disease continues in the country, with the vaccine being given priority to health professionals, clients and staff of nursing homes and people over the age of 80. So far, over 91,000 people in the Czech Republic have both the necessary benefits. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) wants to suggest to open the registration from March and vaccinations for people over the age of 60.
There were about the hospitals before the weekend 5800 patients with covid. Their number would have to drop to about two thousand so that hospitals could resume non-acute care, the head of the IHIS Ladislav Dušek told ČT. Even at the beginning of March, it is unlikely that the number of hospitalized will fall enough. About a thousand patients with covid remain in serious condition.
Tests on Saturday revealed another 4,800 cases of covid, that is about 750 more than on the same day last week. Even in the following days of the past week, the daily gains of those infected usually increased or stagnated compared to the previous week.
There are hospitals according to the Ministry of Health at the edge of capacities. It is their fulfillment that is now the main indicator for the government in determining measures against the spread of the disease. The ministry’s statistics do not take into account, for example, the fact that a covid patient in a hospital is listed as negative in the statistics after a certain period of time. However, he remains in the hospital, often for weeks to months in an intensive care unit.
PES risk scores it was currently worth 71 points out of a hundred, more than three weeks in the fourth of five levels of alert. However, since December 27 last year, the country has been following the strictest measures.
