ON-LINE: 237 patients with covid arrived on Saturday. There is a record number of patients

After midnight, the ministry reported a daily increase of 239 cases on Saturday, and updated its numbers in the early evening. After Friday’s record number of 506 confirmed cases of the disease in one day, the number of infected people decreased on Saturday, but the weekend numbers usually reflect a lower number of tests on days off. 4405 tests were performed on Saturday, about the same as a week ago. About 5.4 percent of those infected were detected on Saturday, roughly the same as on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Health and government epidemiologists, the vast majority of patients have a mild or asymptomatic course of the disease, and more important than daily gains are those who are hospitalized and in serious condition. According to data from this morning, there are 119 people with coronavirus in hospitals, 24 of whom need intensive care, said Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) on Facebook today. The numbers rose slightly from 116 in hospitals and 22 in serious condition compared to Friday’s data. The Ministry of Health has not yet provided newer figures. There was one more death today.

Returning to school can make matters worse

In the last seven days, the most infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the Kolín region, almost 45. Forty cases per 100,000 people in the last week are registered by the ministry in the Uherské Hradiště region and in the Plzeň-sever district. At 37, this figure is in Prague. There are currently no districts without new cases in the last seven days. According to Roman Prymula, an epidemiologist and government commissioner for health science and research, outbreaks are not large, but are relatively widespread.

According to epidemiologists, the return of children and students to schools and people on holiday in September could worsen the situation with coronavirus in the Czech Republic. From September, therefore, it will be mandatory to cover the nose and mouth in public transport, in offices, in health and social care facilities, at internal events from hundreds of participants and in the October regional and senate elections.

This week, the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES) relaxed the originally stricter rules for wearing veils after the opposition of part of the public. According to Babiš, the government perceives the reactions of the people and does not want to hinder the economy and public life.
