With a visit to the pediatric wards of “Pirogov” he chose to celebrate July 4 – the national holiday of the United States, the American Ambassador to Bulgaria Hero Mustafa. On Independence Day, she brought gifts to young patients.
Ambassador Mustafa led a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce, which had prepared a personal gift for each child.
She first visited the pediatric ward, and its head, Assoc. Prof. Iren Tsocheva, showed her the renovated rooms and equipment.
The American Embassy and the America for Bulgaria Foundation have been partners and supported Pirogov since the very beginning of the process of transforming the children’s complex in the hospital into an environment closer to the children.
The head of the Clinic of Burns and Plastic Surgery Prof. Maya Argirova showed the guests the renovated children’s sector, and the head of the department Dr. Anastasia Viktorova told Hero Mustafa about the trends in the treatment of children’s burns and the desire of “Pirogov” to have the most modern technologies and methods.
“I am impressed by the change in the pediatric wards and the way the team takes care of the children,” said Her Excellency.
“Pirogov Hospital is constantly investing in improving the environment and equipment in all children’s wards. Our partnership with the embassy and American organizations in Bulgaria are excellent because they are dedicated to this common aspiration and I thank you for that,” said the director of UMBALSM “N .I.Pirogov ”Prof. Asen Baltov.
He presented the US ambassador with a book dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the country’s largest emergency hospital today.
On the occasion of the National Day of the United States, Hero Mustafa presented Prof. Baltov with a coin with a Bulgarian rose – a gift whose design was prepared personally by Her Excellency.
On Friday, the US Embassy in Bulgaria organized as part of the celebrations on the occasion of July 4 a reception for Bulgarian medics who worked for more than 15 months on the front line in the fight against COVID-19. Pirogov University Hospital and its 600 heroes were represented by 29 young doctors of all specialties, who are still dedicated to the insidious disease.
