The ANWB is receiving a lot of questions today about vandaag the new rules in France, says Annelies Tichelaar, spokesperson for the ANWB. “France is the favorite holiday destination of the Dutch. More than a million people go there every year. People wonder what to bring with them and what to arrange themselves. We try to ensure that no one is surprised by all the rules on a listed in the ANWB travel guide.”

1. What does the health pass contain?
From 1 August, France will use the so-called ‘pas sanitaire’, a health pass. This pass shows if you have been fully vaccinated, tested negative or have recently recovered from Covid-19. The mandatory health pass applies to all French people and visitors to the country who are older than 12 years.

2. What will I need that pass for later?
You must show your health card before visiting catering establishments, shopping centers, hospitals or traveling by train or plane. More locations may follow later. It is not yet known whether you need the pass to enter the supermarket, for example.

3. Do I have to apply for the sanitary pass? Or can I use the CoronaCheck app?
According to Tichelaar you can just use the Dutch CoronaCheck-app as an alternative to the French health card. “The health pass is mainly intended for French people. In Europe we have agreed on the digital corona certificate. You can therefore easily use the CoronaCheck app. The French app is also very easy to download, but you can go anywhere with the CoronaCheck app. “

4. What should I take into account if I am not vaccinated?
“It will really be a summer in which well-prepared travel is central. This was normally the case, but if you are not vaccinated, you will have to plan even more.”
Any traveler over the age of 11 must take a test and this test must not be older than 72 hours at this time. After August 1, this may be 48 hours, but that is still unclear.
According to Tichelaar, you should therefore plan well in advance where you can get tested and how much money it will cost. “The costs are about 30 euros per test, which is serious money. Especially for families with children. If you want to make a trip, you will really have to look for a test location two days in advance. Go on holiday completely carefree is not there. It is personal for everyone whether you are willing to pay for it or not.”

5. Are there strict checks on a health pass?
The ANWB cannot say much about checking the health card. “You may be asked about it. We don’t know whether every shopping center or catering facility is checked. If you are asked about it and you do not have it with you, you may be sent away or you may be fined “But we don’t know that yet. Our advice is: study the rules, so that you are not faced with surprises.”
