Funeral of Asp. Art by Mateusz Biernacki was announced for Friday, November 29. The 34-year-old officer of the Warsaw VI District Police Headquarters will be said goodbye to the church of St. Saint Michael the Archangel in Biała Podlaska. The Holy Mass will start at 12:00.
As the police announced on Thursday, November 28 on social media, on Friday you will be able to hear sirens throughout the country. This is how colleagues from the service will say goodbye to the deceased. Media representatives were also appealed to “respect the peace of the family and relatives of the deceased policeman.”

Sgt. pc. Mateusz Biernacki died on November 23 during an intervention at 6 Inżynierska Street in Praga-Północ. Officers went to the area in response to reports of an aggressive man, allegedly armed with a machete. On site appeared, among others: patrol in civilian clothes. One of the younger officers did not recognize his ununiformed colleague and fired a fatal shot at him.
The prosecutor’s office has already accused 21-year-old Bartosz Z. of exceeding his powers and unjustified use of a service weapon. Additionally, he is accused of causing a truly life-threatening disease, as a result of which he allegedly caused the death of another person. The court was asked to grant pre-trial detention, but it rejected the request. It was only decided to impose supervision on the policeman, a ban on approaching witnesses, property bail and suspension from duties.

“Our friend Mateusz lost his life in an instant, depriving his children of their beloved father and his wife of her husband. His death is a huge loss for all of us. We started this collection out of the desire to provide financial assistance so that our friend’s family could meet their most important obligations,” we read in the description of the collection on the zrzutka.pl website.
