The city of La Línea de la Concepción is preparing for a demonstration this coming Friday, October 25, 2024 at 8:00 p.m., with a route that will begin in Plaza Fariñas and end at the border with Gibraltar. The objective of the demonstration is to demand the adoption of exceptional measures for the municipality due to the uncertainty that continues to surround the Brexit Agreement, asking that said agreement be closed as soon as possible.

The La Línea City Council, under the direction of Mayor Juan Franco, has announced that various actions will be carried out throughout the week to raise awareness among citizens about the objectives of the demonstration. Starting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 7:00 a.m., leaflets will be distributed in the border area and visits will be made to businesses in the center and neighborhoods. In addition, on Wednesday there will be a visit to the Ciudad Deportiva market, and the days before the demonstration, Thursday and Friday, the presence on the streets will increase to continue explaining the purpose of the protest.

Mayor Juan Franco has expressed his gratitude to the political and social groups that have supported the call and has insisted that it is a protest “that is not against anyone and is to ask for special measures for our city, in order to address the such a complicated situation that we have had to live in.” Likewise, Franco has stressed that “we have a lot at stake”, with the hope that the Brexit Agreement is finalized as soon as possible, allowing the municipality of La Línea to “take off once and for all.”
