Since 10 August, a total of 1,726 people have been deterred from crossing the state border illegally.
There are no persons detained for illegal crossing of the state border during the past day.
Since the introduction of the state of emergency, 50 people have not been prevented from crossing the state border for humanitarian reasons, while a total of 402 third-country nationals who have crossed the state border illegally have been detained this year.
It has already been reported that the government, taking into account the number of detected cases of illegal crossing of the Latvian-Belarusian border and its rapid increase, previously decided to declare a state of emergency from 11 August to 10 November in Ludza, Krāslava, Augšdaugava districts, as well as Daugavpils.
Officials have pointed out that the efforts of the Alexander Lukashenko regime in power in Belarus to force the population of third countries in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland can be assessed as manifestations of a hybrid war or a hybrid threat.
