NARRATIVE – The return to reality is disturbing, but the volunteers, who pour out their emotions and nostalgia on the social network, are already preparing for the next editions.
Facebook, old hat? Not for the Paris 2024 volunteers. They made us sing, dance and we applauded them during the closing ceremony and their moment of glory lulled by a “That I love you” echoing at the Stade de France. But well before the start of this 33rd Olympiad, volunteers were already on the battlefront. In December 2022, Anaïs Avril created a Facebook group “Volontaires Paris 2024”, where today more than 8,800 members have gathered to share anecdotes, advice and sometimes misadventures. “I didn’t think there would be such enthusiasm, but I wanted to bring people together and it took off straight away.”smiles the 25-year-old woman. Originally from Les Sables d’Olonne and employed in a cosmetic medicine center, Anaïs has dedicated more than five hours a day of her personal time to managing this group. “Some people thought I was involved in organizing the Games, but no, she laughs.
