Russian security arrested the correspondent of the American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” in Moscow, Ivan Gershkovich, on charges of espionage.
And the Russian Federal Security Service stated in a statement today, reported by Sputnik agency, “The illegal activities of the American citizen Ivan Gershkovitch, born in 1991, who is accredited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the correspondent of the Moscow office of the American Wall Street Journal, fall within the framework of espionage for the American government.”
The statement indicated that Gershkovich collected information that constitutes a state secret about the activities of a company affiliated with the Russian military-industrial complex on the instructions of the United States of America, pointing out that his arrest took place in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg while he was trying to obtain classified information.
