On average ten deaths per day from Covid-19, half of …

Between September 26 and October 2, an average of 2,309 new corona infections were confirmed daily in Belgium, according to preliminary figures from the Sciensano health institute on Tuesday. This is an increase of 48 percent compared to the seven days before.

Of all the tests performed, 7.3 percent now turns out to be positive. A total of 132,203 infections have already been diagnosed.

In the week until October 2, an average of 10.3 people died in our country every day. That is an increase of no less than 5.7 compared to the previous period. All in all, the Sars-CoV-2 virus has already killed 10,078 people in Belgium.

In addition, according to the most recent figures, an average of 81 patients are hospitalized every day, 16.6 more than in the previous period. As of October 5, 195 patients required intensive care and a total of 937 beds were occupied by corona patients, or nearly half of the 2,000 beds currently reserved by hospitals for Covid-19. In several hospitals, the Covid department would already be full. In comparison, in April, during the lockdown, there were approximately 6,000 beds for corona patients.
