On Wednesday, 3,274 people with Covid-19 were in Belgian hospitals, of whom 525 are in intensive care (+39). This is evident from the preliminary data on the online dashboard of health institute Sciensano on Thursday morning.

Between October 15 and 21, an average of 319.1 new patients were admitted to the hospital every day, an 88 percent increase from the previous week.
Between 12 and 18 October, an average of 9,692.6 corona infections were added daily. That is an increase of 75 percent compared to the seven days before. A total of 253,386 people have already been infected with the virus, no less than 13,227 more than the total reported on Wednesday.
The number of deaths rose to 10,539, 50 people more than Wednesday’s total. In the period from October 12 to 18, an average of 33.1 people per day died from Covid-19 (+13.4).
The positivity ratio, the number of people who test positive in relation to the total number of tests, has increased to 16.3 percent.
