On August 30, the scientific and educational expedition “The Road to the Shrines” started, with which the celebration of the Day of Belarusian Literature begins, informs Ministry of Information of Belarus.
Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavsky, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus Veniamin greeted its participants.
“With a sense of great spiritual joy, we gathered in the Holy Spirit Cathedral to thank God in a joint prayer for all His blessings for 30 years of fruitful work and to ask God for help in a new educational journey”, – informed the Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslav, Patriarchal Exarch of all Benjamin of Belarus.
“It is necessary to emphasize that the scientific and educational expedition “Road to the Shrines” became a vivid example of close state-church cooperation in Belarus. This unique event, which takes place at the intersection of science, culture and religion, testifies to successful steps in joining our people to their spiritual and cultural heritage,” the Metropolitan also noted.
Participants of the scientific and educational expedition “Road to the Shrines” will travel 1,340 kilometers on the territory of Brest, Minsk and Vitebsk regions through the dioceses of Pinsk, Minsk, Barysau, Polotsk and Vitebsk. According to tradition, pilgrims hold meetings with residents of the places where they stop, visit hospitals and orphanages, churches and monasteries.
