–
Leipzig – They damaged several cars, smashed windows, set up barricades and finally targeted a mosque.

A spontaneous demo got out of hand on Monday evening on Eisenbahnstrasse in Leipzig.
About 80 left-wing demonstrators had gathered on the Eisi on the occasion of “ACAB Day” (“All Cops Are Bastards”, the numbers of the date, December 13, stand for the letters) and then rioted along the street. At first there was talk of around 100 participants.
People are said to have detonated pyrotechnics, set garbage cans on fire and damaged five cars by throwing bottles. According to TAG24 information, the demonstrators also tried to set fire to some cars by putting pyrotechnics on the vehicles’ tires. The demo participants also attacked a mosque on Hermann-Liebmann-Strasse. Several panes of the church were broken.

Was the mosque deliberately damaged?
The police checked twelve people and took them to the station for identification purposes. They were then allowed to walk again and, according to the spokeswoman, were not taken into custody.
The police initially did not comment on a possible political motive. During the night, a police spokesman said that the mosque had been damaged in connection with a lift by around 100 masked people, who the police classify as a left-wing group. The mosque belongs to the mosque association Ditib, which is the German branch of the Turkish religious authority Diyanet.
The officials did not initially say whether the Islamic house of worship was deliberately damaged.
