The same advice also states that the forecasts for how corona will develop in the autumn and winter months are worse than previously modeled. According to the OMT, there is ‘a greater degree of uncertainty, including a sharp increase in hospital and IC admissions’.
Tipping point
The OMT speaks of ‘a tipping point in the epidemiological situation’ after the last relaxations came into effect two weeks ago. If there is no further relaxation and the number of contacts remains the same, up to 400 people may end up in intensive care.

When the number of contacts increases by 20 percent, the occupation on the IC can rise to a maximum of 800. According to official figures, there are currently 138 people with corona on the IC.
Antistoffentest
The OMT also advises against the serological test before getting a corona admission ticket. The test shows antibodies in the blood against the coronavirus. That’s how you know if you’ve had the virus.
Proponents believe that the test is a good way to test people for the corona admission ticket. But the OMT thinks otherwise: the test does not consider this useful for the corona admission ticket, because the time of the infection cannot be determined. As a result, according to them, it is not possible to link a term to the admission ticket.

The OMT therefore advises not to relax at the moment, such as expanding the so-called 75 percent rule standard. This applies to catering locations and events where visitors do not have a permanent seat: those locations may use a maximum of 75 percent of the regular capacity.
According to the OMT, the forecast will become more accurate in a few weeks and the risks of any easing can be better defined. The OMT will have another meeting on 29 October, from which a new recommendation will follow.
