The OMT has advised the cabinet to keep all education open. That is what sources say to the NOS. The cabinet had to early OMT advice requested because of the increasing infections.
Although there are many infections in schools, the OMT believes that everything must be done not to close them. The advice applies to primary and secondary schools as well as universities and colleges of higher education. The cabinet should then first look in other sectors to see what can be done to reduce the number of infections.
Various meetings
It is not clear whether the outgoing cabinet will adopt the advice. There are several consultations about this today. Now the most involved ministers at the Binnenhof, led by Prime Minister Rutte, are talking again with their regular advisers, including RIVM director Van Dissel and National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security Aalbersberg.
This afternoon there will also be a meeting at the Catshuis. Tomorrow Rutte and Minister De Jonge will give another press conference. That’s a week ahead of schedule.
