The police also announced on Tuesday that the fatal victim was a 30-year-old man. The seriously injured were a 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman. The suspect was a 48-year-old man. Later, a 45-year-old woman from Dronten was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. The object that the EOD was investigating turned out to be heavy fireworks. It was taken away and rendered harmless.

The fatal victim was lying next to a parked car. His body was covered with a white sheet, which made it clear quite quickly on the spot that help for this person was of no use.

Police were unable to officially confirm his death until late Monday evening due to the chaotic circumstances surrounding the investigation, and the victim’s relatives had to be informed first.

The incident happened around 16:15 in the normally quiet street. De Blaasbalg is located in the residential area Dronten West. In the courtyard there are several rows of houses around a playground. The shooting happened at the parked car in front of a house. The area was cordoned off and white screens were placed to block the view of the victim.

Suspect on knees
Footage taken shortly after the shooting shows a man being forced to his knees by a police officer who has drawn his weapon. The suspect is then led away in handcuffs. He does not appear to have resisted arrest. According to the police, there are no other suspects in the picture.

EOD involved in investigation
Mayor Jean Paul Gebben of Dronten was at the crime scene on Monday evening to be informed about the situation. Gebben did not want to say anything about the violent event in his municipality.

Early in the evening, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of the Ministry of Defence also arrived in the street. The EOD assisted with the investigation because there were signals that there might have been an explosive, or something that looked like it, in the immediate vicinity of the shooting. The outcome of that investigation was not yet clear late Monday evening.

Traumateam
A trauma team landed Monday afternoon with a helicopter near the incident to assist with the relief efforts. The two seriously injured were taken to hospital by ambulance.
