The information gathered by Omniva on the dynamics of shipments at the end of the year shows that an increasing number of the public, evaluating the advantages of distance shopping, chooses to buy gifts in e-shops.

Maris Kulikovskis, the head of Omniva’s sales department, points out that the changes in the shopping habits of the Latvian population are obvious and have become even more pronounced this year.

“Despite the stricter retail restrictions imposed at the end of 2020 due to the pandemic than at present, the number of unique consignees has increased by at least 41% this year compared to November of the previous year. at least 61% of Latvian households, “says Kulikovskis.

The data collected by the company also show that the activity of the population in shopping, the so-called “Black Friday”, has increased compared to previous years, which shows that the public buys holiday gifts earlier and retailers have offered really attractive prices for a wide range of goods.

Kulikovskis emphasizes that not only the activity of the society when making purchases remotely shows the transformation of habits, but it is also confirmed by the increase in the number of retailers that offer to buy goods remotely. For example, the number of Omniva’s active business customers has increased by 25% compared to the previous year.

Kulikovsky explains that the company is currently facing significant increases in shipments, which are currently being delivered within five days. However, with the installation of 92 new parcel terminals and the end of the holiday period, deliveries will be made within one day.

According to Kulikovskis, it is obvious that customers are more and more aware that the supply industry is overloaded and is sympathetic to the extended delivery times, because this year the customer service center has received 35% fewer questions than last year.

It has already been reported that work has begun at the end of November to expand the Omniva parcel network to 300 instead of the current 208. The total investment in the installation of new parcel terminals is planned in the amount of 2.8 million euros.

Omniva’s turnover last year was 12.278 million euros, which is 63.4% more than a year earlier, while the company’s profit increased 3.2 times – to 2.366 million euros, according to information “Firmas.lv”. The company “Omniva” was registered in 2012 and its share capital is 2945 euros. Omniva is wholly owned by the Estonian postal company Eesti Post.
