Life in England feels like a big experiment right now. Since “Freedom Day” in July, the government has been careful not to impose new restrictions. Despite the omicron, the point has been reached here that one should “live with Covid”.
The idea of letting people live normally in non-normal times is reflected in the exploding number of infections. The seven-day incidence is hovering around 1,900, the National Health Service NHS is groaning under this burden. However, it is different than before: So far, the number of hospital admissions has remained relatively stable, not so many people are dying, the booster campaign is running. The biggest problem for the health system is staff shortages due to quarantine.
