Omicron Virus Generates New Variant BA.2, Health Practitioners: No Need to Worry, Vaccination is the Key

JAKARTA, celebrities.id – Varian Omicron in the world triggered the emergence of a new variant of BA.2 ‘Omicron Stealth’. Seeing this, health practitioners reminded not to worry about these variants.

This was conveyed by Health Practitioners and Volunteer Doctors Covid-19Dr. Muhamad Fajri Adda’i, that people only need to prioritize health protocols and carry out vaccinations to avoid Covid-19 virus.

“There is no need to worry, the important thing is to maintain health protocols, the conclusion is that you still have to be vaccinated,” said dr. Fajri, Sunday (27/2/2022)

On the same occasion, he said that the BA.2 variant (Omicron Siluman) is definitely more contagious than the BA.1 variant (Omicron). However, it is not yet known whether it is dangerous or not, according to him, there is a possibility that this variant could be seriously ill.

Doctor Fajri confirmed that someone who had tested positive for Covid-19 could be reinfected (re-infected). Because the immune system (immunity) is only able to protect 50 percent of symptoms, while protecting from worsening about 80 percent.

“For those who have been infected, they can get it again because of the effectiveness of our antibodies from the previous illness, it’s only 50 percent for symptoms. But for those who survive the worsening, it’s still 80 percent,” said dr. Fajri.

On the other hand, Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19, Reisa Broto Asmoro, revealed the benefits of vaccination for the community which can save health conditions. For those who have been vaccinated for the first time, it is certainly different from those who have received a complete and booster dose.

He said that vaccination does not protect or save 100 percent. But the public has been vaccinated at least, minimizing the risk of severe symptoms to death.

“Citing data from the Ministry of Health on February 19, 2022 that the ability to reduce the risk of death due to Covid-19, 1 dose injected has protected 11 percent, then it jumped to 67 percent, for two complete doses and if there is already a booster as much as 3 doses, the protection goes up. again to 91 percent,” said Dr Reisa, Monday (21/2/2022).
