London Mayor Sadiq Khan has declared an emergency in the British capital due to the rise in coronavirus cases caused by the new Omicron strain, Reuters reported on December 18.
The number of hospitalizations and the shortage of medical staff is growing, said Mr. Khan. “Therefore, I made a decision, in consultation with our partners, to declare an emergency today. This indicates how serious everything is,” the mayor said.
