Texas announced on Tuesday its first death from the Omicron variant. It would also be the first on American soil.
A man in his 50s died on Tuesday in Texas after being infected with the Omciron variant of covid, reports online newspaper The Hill.
Suffering from other health problems, the 50-year-old was not vaccinated, said the health department of Harris County, the Houston area, the state capital, with more than 4.7 million inhabitants.
The Shire explained that the man was “at higher risk of serious complications from Covi-19 due to unvaccinated status and had underlying health issues”.

Harris County executive director Lina Hidalgo said the death was the first local due to the new variant.
