Omicron causes New Zealand PM to cancel marriage

Jakarta

Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern forced to cancel her wedding due to the government imposed new restrictions on Covid-19. The restrictions were made to prevent the spread of new variants of Omicron.

“My marriage did not take place,” he told reporters while expressing his concern for the New Zealand community who felt the same fate. Ardern has not revealed the exact date of her wedding, but is said to be in the near future.

When asked by reporters how she felt about being forced to call off her marriage to Clarke Gayford, Ardern replied “That’s life.”

“I am no different from the thousands of other New Zealanders who have been more severely affected by the pandemic. The saddest thing in this time of a pandemic is not being able to be with loved ones when they are seriously ill. It will be far, far, beyond the grief I have experienced.” he continued.

As reported by Reuters, Sunday (23/1/2022) New Zealand will enforce the mask rules and limit gatherings from Sunday (23/1) in the morning after 9 cases of Omicron were found in the North and South Islands.

The case happened to a family who had returned to Nelson City on the South Island after traveling by plane from Auckland on the North Island. They returned from attending a wedding in Auckland. In addition to the family, a flight attendant also tested positive for Omicron.

With the findings, New Zealand will move to stricter Covid-19 rules with more masks on, indoor activities such as bars and restaurants and events such as weddings will be limited to 100 people.

The room capacity limitation will be reduced to 25 people if the location does not use a vaccine ticket as a condition of entry.
