ÖMG General Assembly 2020 | Austrian Marketing Society, December 17th, 2020

Re-appointed presidium draws positive results

Vienna (OTS) More members, qualitative specialist lectures and new (digital) event formats – in the crisis year 2020, the Austrian Marketing Society (ÖMG) made an intensive contribution to sustainably strengthening the marketing discipline. The focus was on intensifying the cooperation between the individual marketing associations, promoting exchange and driving developments in marketing with a view to the digital challenges. The presidium and the board of the ÖMG, reappointed at the general assembly on December 15, 2020, have big plans for 2021. Judith Zingerle, head of STANDARD Marketing, was appointed to the board as a new member.

“Despite these challenging times, we have managed to strengthen and advance the marketing discipline. Under the joint umbrella of the Marketing Circle, we were able to further establish the four largest marketing associations in the country as a vital platform for cooperation and professional exchange “, said President Barbara Rauchwarter, CMO APA, and President Alexander Oswald, Managing Partner Futura GmbH, who were reappointed as part of the digital general assembly of the Austrian Marketing Society. Together with the Marketing Club Austria (MCÖ), the Dialog Marketing Association Austria (DMVÖ), the Creativ Club Austria (CCA) and the interactive advertising bureau austria, iab Austria for short, they want to address this important issue and the further development of the industry in Focus on the future even more.

Industry focus

In the past two years, the Austrian Marketing Society has implemented a wealth of initiatives and organized numerous top-class industry events: The “Business Lounges” series of events, including on the subjects of “Loyalty in retail”, “F ** k the Luck”, “Must Brands have an opinion? ”As well as cooperation events with the Marketing Circle and other associations such as the CCA or the Digital Business Trends (DBT), caused polarizing discussions and addressed the trending topics in the industry. Various collaborations, for example with the start-up medium incubator for “2 minutes – 2 million” or the business maniacs as well as participation in panel discussions opened up the opportunity to develop new target groups. In addition to the many external activities, intensive work was also carried out internally to improve the procedures and processes. For example, the association’s administration system was reorganized and the establishment of a strong social media and new web presence was launched. Most recently, the study on the “job description of marketing”, which was presented and discussed about a month ago as part of the Marketing Circle, revealed any “pain points” in the industry. “We will take up the findings of the study in the new year and deepen them as essential content in further association work”, said Rauchwarter and Oswald.
