After the end of the church service, in front of the church, the national public defender will donate packages of food to socially weak and elderly people, collected by the volunteers of the National campaign “Easter for everyone – donate a holiday to grandparents”.

The initiative is being organized for the third year in a row by the institution of the ombudsman, and the aim is to help Bulgarian pensioners who will not receive an Easter allowance of BGN 40, because their pension slightly exceeds the minimum threshold set by the government to the poverty line – BGN 321.

The funds will be converted into vouchers, each worth BGN 20, with which pensioners, determined on the lists of the National Insurance Institute, will be able to shop in 5,000 stores throughout the country. / Who are they here: /

Seniors will receive their vouchers from next week with their monthly pension at local central post offices. With the assistance of the social patronage by municipalities, in the week before Easter, the distribution of the collected food products to socially weak and poor people will begin.

The lists of pensioners who will receive vouchers are to be published on the website of the Ombudsman and the Bulgarian Red Cross, in two installments – before Easter and before St. George’s Day.

Food collection also continues this Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the Buy and Share campaign, part of the campaign. The idea of ​​the “Buy and Share” campaign is to give people with good hearts the opportunity to make Bulgarian pensioners happy for Easter by buying packaged food products / oil, flour, sugar, rice, macaroni, canned goods, beans, lentils, biscuits, dry pasta etc./ to donate in the specially placed carts, branded with the campaign logo, at the exit of the stores.
