/ world today news/ Within two weeks, Ombudsman Maya Manolova will introduce legislative changes to the National Assembly against the bad practices and arbitrariness of the PSI, the banks, monopolies and fast loan companies. This became clear after a discussion held today on the topic “How to protect citizens from bad practices of private bailiffs, banks and monopolies”, organized by the public defender.
“The number of complaints against the PSI received at the institution is huge, in fact in recent weeks 20 per day, and only for the first 4 months of the year they were 536, and for comparison in the whole of 2016 there were 601.” , announced Manolova.
“Changes are needed in the legislation and in the regulations that regulate the work of private bailiffs and banks, regarding their excessive powers to obtain writs of execution under the abbreviated procedure,” said Manolova.
She announced that she was ready with a bill to improve summonses, to allow citizens to pay without going to court, where they are burdened with more fees, to be able to appeal the assessments of real estate that is sold at public sale on worthless. Among the proposals floated during the discussion by participants were more sanctions for PSIs and a reduction in their fees.
“I have no reception room in the country where people do not cry against the deliberate actions of private bailiffs, against the arbitrariness and abuse of their rights. This crosses all borders, ruined destinies, ruined lives, homes sold for no money, minimum obligations increased tremendously. As a result – parasitic costs that are charged and fees that are collected from them. It’s time to put an end to this,” Manolova said categorically.
Tomorrow, an expert working group with participants from the discussion will gather at the ombudsman’s institution to upgrade the ombudsman’s bill with new proposals.
Manolova thanked everyone who respected the forum, among whom were the Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova, deputies from the 44th National Assembly, representatives of consumer, employer and trade union organizations, magistrates, lawyers, injured citizens, etc.
