Ombudsman Maya Manolova: Get out of the gloomy mood and do a good deed for Easter – 2024-07-31 17:20:47

/ world today news/ “I think that today’s bright Christian holiday – the day of the Resurrection of Lazarus, the Resurrection of hope and goodness, is an occasion to remind about the campaign “Easter for everyone”. As Christ said to Lazarus “get up and go out”, so I would appeal to the Bulgarians to get up and get out of the gloomy mood, from the lack of perspective and look at the world and let everyone do a good deed, they will certainly feel better -good.”

This was said by the ombudsman Maya Manolova after the festive liturgy celebrated by Father Lazar in the capital’s “Saint Great Martyr George the Victorious” church. “Growling”.

Manolova distributed to socially weak and elderly people of the parish 350 packages of food collected by the volunteers of the National campaign “Easter for everyone – give a holiday to grandparents”, which is organized under her patronage for the third year in a row.

The ombudsman announced that at the beginning of the week, the first funds received in the initiative’s account were distributed, amounting to BGN 260,000, and turned into vouchers for 13,000 pensioners.

“The campaign is in full swing. In fact, it remains the last week in which people, approaching the bright Christian holiday, think more and more about their loved ones and about those who live in deprivation. This is the week in which we expect to collect the most donations – to the bank account, to the SMS-number 1255, and also from the “Buy and Share” initiative, which takes place in 50 stores in 14 Bulgarian cities. I hope we will achieve the result we achieved last year as well – 30,000 pensioners with vouchers and at least as many with food packages”, indicated Manolova.

She also said that she can’t say for whom this campaign is more important – for the people who have nothing to put on the table, for those who donate or for the children who we are trying to teach kindness, empathy and sharing.

“I think the campaign is extremely positive. She awakens the good in the Bulgarian and this year I hope she will have much better results. We have collected a lot of food because many volunteers joined, to whom I thank,” added the public defender and reminded that the “Buy and Share” initiative continues this weekend as well.

“I really hope that those who will not join the campaign will remember before the holiday that there are elderly people on the block, on the street, who live alone and cannot cope. I think everyone can give to make someone else’s holiday better. I also thank the media, because otherwise the campaign would not have reached so many people,” said Maya Manolova categorically.

According to her, not only people with greater opportunities donate, but also those who give five, ten or twenty BGN, as well as companies. She expressed hope that after her visit to the parliament yesterday, the deputies will also get involved.

The national campaign “Easter for Everyone” collects financial funds on a bank account in UniCredit Bulbank, opened specifically and solely for the purposes of the campaign, with the holder Bulgarian Red Cross:
