The verifications carried out this Wednesday, by the Consumer Ombudsman’s Office, in different egg producing and distributing companies, aim to protect the pockets of Salvadoran families, as announced by the president of the institution, Ricardo Salazar.
One of the verifications was carried out in the municipality of San Salvador, specifically in the Huevos Catalana company, said inspection was led by the head of the Ombudsman’s Office.
Salazar reaffirmed the commitment to monitor the national market. “We are activating an operation, on a national scale, that seeks to prevent abuses against the population in one of the most consumed products: eggs. The information that we have crossed with other State institutions is that there are quite favorable conditions for egg production in the country.”he declared.
The official also explained that, during the inspection of this company, one of the main companies in the sector, they corroborated a significant decrease of about 8% in the prices, in general, of the products it supplies to the national market.
Since the beginning of the economic relief measures, the institution has had more than 70 cases that have been sanctioned, with financial fines that amount to more than $289,000.
