CORIGLIANO ROSSANO – The 42-year-old Rossanese Omar Palermo, for a long time a real star of the Internet under the pseudonym “Youtubo me too”, died yesterday in the “Tirrenia Hospital” nursing home in Belvedere Marittimo.
The youtuber lived in the historic center of Rossano but for more than six months he had been struggling with a complex rehabilitation process after a domestic accident that had caused him to fracture his leg last January. A long process of physical recovery, made particularly delicate by the build of the man who weighed over 100 kilos.
For years the Maestro (as the fans called him) had been absent from his youtube channel with more than 550 thousand subscribers, where he published videos that testified his “exploits” at the table.
To appease the rumors that were spreading among his “followers”, he had decided to spread a message on social media: «Good morning, dear fellow followers, as already done, I’m here to reiterate that I have decided not to publish new videos anymore. Spontaneous choice, and without any kind of problem concerning my person. I would kindly ask you to remember when I said that I could quit at any moment and that I wouldn’t be on the Tube forever. So – reassuring you – I invite you to stop writing falsehoods about me and – above all – to be calm. Thanks. YouTubo Me too ».
THE YOUTUBER FOUND AFTER 2 YEARS
One of his admirers, the Sicilian Giorgio Sciacca, also a youtuber, had then set out on his trail, learning of the accident. He went first to Rossano, then to Cosenza to the Annunziata Hospital and finally to the Madonna della Catena rehabilitation center in Laurignano, just outside the Bruzio capital.
The long wandering among the rehabilitation structures of the province sadly ended in Belvedere, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza, where Omar died.
Giorgio Sciacca himself released a video this morning sharing the news of his death with the other fans of “YouTubo Also Io”. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Friday 20 August, at 11 in the church of San Bartolomeo di Rossano.
