Omar Metwally Controversy: Magdy Al-Hawari Shares Candid Thoughts on the Departed Star

The Legacy of Shukri Sarhan: A ‌Debate ‌on Talent and‌ Timeless Roles

The⁣ late Egyptian‍ actor shukri Sarhan ‌ has once‍ again become the ⁢centre of a heated debate in the⁤ Arab film industry. ‍Following recent⁣ comments⁤ by ⁣artists Omar⁢ Mustafa Metwally and Ahmed Fathi, who criticized Sarhan’s acting abilities, director and producer Magdy Al-Hawari has stepped forward to defend the iconic actor’s legacy.

Al-Hawari took to his official Facebook account to ⁢share ⁣a series of posters ‌from ⁣Sarhan’s films, accompanied by a heartfelt reflection on the actor’s career. “It is much more important ‍than that he is a talented actor or an ⁤employed actor,” ⁣Al-Hawari wrote.“Many of the world’s industry greats disagree about him because⁢ acting’s standards vary over time and ‍the specific time period.” ⁤

He emphasized the complexity⁣ of evaluating⁤ talent,⁣ noting that the distinction between a “student” and a “talented” actor ⁢is vast.⁤ “The difference ⁤between them ⁢is great,” he explained,‍ “and affection for acting schools in the world⁤ and modern curricula plays ⁤a role.”

Despite ⁢the ⁢criticism,‌ Al-Hawari highlighted the undeniable impact of Sarhan’s work. “The strange and wondrous irony is that the best roles, the‍ sweetest novels, and the ‌strongest⁤ films in the history and memory of the 100 most important films in Arab cinema, whose hero was shukri Sarhan.” ⁢

He pointed ⁤to specific performances that cemented sarhan’s place ‍in cinematic history. For instance, Sarhan’s role in Shabab⁤ Woman was described as “better than the role‍ of the⁤ victim⁤ himself.”⁤ Al-Hawari also praised his performances⁢ in Ze‍ Woman on the Road, Azma, Al-Safira, and The Thief and the Dogs, among others.

However,Al-Hawari admitted that ‍while Sarhan’s roles where iconic,he ‌personally did ⁣not ⁣consider‍ him a naturally talented actor. “Even though ‍he ⁢was not talented from my personal perspective, I add my voice to the artistic opinion of Yousry Nasrallah,” he concluded.

In addition to his reflections on‌ Sarhan, Al-Hawari is currently promoting his upcoming series, The Complete Story, writen by ⁣ Sameh Sanad. The project features collaborations with prominent writers, ⁤including ⁤ Amr Samir Atef, Engy⁤ Alaa, and Mohamed Salah Al-Azab. ⁣

This ⁢debate comes at a time⁢ when Al-Hawari’s recent work, the series Daima Amer, ⁢starring Mustafa Shaaban, continues⁢ to ‍resonate with audiences.
