The Ministry of Health of Oman, through its official account on the site “Instagram”, defines the term diabetic foot, which refers to the complications of diabetes and its impact on the feet.

Diabetics are more likely to suffer from ulcers, wounds, and acute infections. All factors that can often lead to the amputation of the affected organ, unless medical intervention is undertaken.

Why Do Diabetes Complications Occur … And How Do They Affect Your Feet?

  • Neuropathy due to a permanent rise in blood sugar. It is observed as a tingling sensation or numbness in the feet. When exacerbated, it causes weakness or complete loss of sensation of pain, heat or cold.
  • They do not produce sufficient amounts of sweat to moisturize the skin, which are important functions for the safety of the feet. Thus, the patient can be injured in the foot, without feeling it.
  • Narrowing or complete blockage of the arteries that supply the feet. Symptoms of cold, pale or blue feet indicate poor blood flow to the feet. This results in less blood arriving. Thus, less oxygen arrives, the nutrients needed to heal wounds and fight infections.

And the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has published, through its official account on the “Twitter” site, a series of nutritional advice for diabetics.

And Egyptian Health revealed that the components of the ideal meal for a diabetic patient are half a plate of fresh or cooked vegetables, and the other half consists of a quarter of protein and a quarter of carbohydrates, while drinking a glass. of water.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health has indicated that white flour and sugar of all kinds are among the causes of the sudden sharp rise in blood sugar. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid the following products:

  • sweets
  • Drink
  • juices

It is important to stick to the daily consumption of specific amounts of starches and sugars, which helps control sugar and prevent complications, such as diabetic foot, retinal detachment, and weakness or loss of vision.
