Oman Ministry takes action against non-compliant e-payment systems in businesses

Muscat: The authorities have stepped up action in connection with the non-preparation of e-payment system in commercial establishments in Oman. People have complained on social media about the non-availability of e-payment system in many shops. Following this, the ministry has come up with a response.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has announced that 444 cases have been registered in Muscat Governorate in two months. So many cases were registered in the months of February and March. The authorities implemented the e-payment system in business establishments in January 2022. The Ministry had issued an order that the law has come into force and the respective institutions should implement the e-payment system as soon as possible. Accordingly, many organizations have introduced e-payment system. The Ministry is taking action against the institutions that have not yet implemented the system.
