President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received direct complaints from traders Bogor Market about the rampant practice of illegal levies (extortion). The moment occurred on the sidelines of the handover of direct cash assistance (BLT) for cooking oil.
Monitoring detik.comThursday (21/4/2022), Jokowi accompanied by the Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya Sugiarto and Deputy Mayor of Bogor Dedie A Rachim when directly handing over the cooking oil BLT to several representatives of the beneficiaries.
Jokowi also briefly visited several traders inside the Bogor Market and distributed souvenirs to residents who were at the location. At that time, there were men and women who conveyed their hearts to Jokowi.
The man and woman dressed in red looked hysterical when Jokowi passed by the location. They immediately conveyed vents related to practice extortion which is said to happen a lot in Bogor Market.
This moment was captured on a video which later went viral on social media.
“Father, there are a lot of extortion here, sir,” said the man to Jokowi.
Jokowi then stopped his steps. He watched and listened to the men and women vent.
Jokowi asked both of them to calm down. Jokowi is seen swinging his hands down.
The man and woman hysterically continued to talk to Jokowi about the alleged extortion that was rife in Bogor Market. They also said that his family was arrested by the police for refusing extortion by thugs.
“Please, sir, uncle, we refuse extortion, the police arrested him,” said the woman.
There was also a Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Pramono Anung at the location. Pramono seemed to take notes from the two people.
“Who is imprisoned?” asked Pramono.
“My uncle,” replied the woman.
