OM wants to show shocking images of Hümeyra (16) on appeal | Inland

At the end of last year, the 33-year-old E. was sentenced to fourteen years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment for manslaughter. The Public Prosecution appealed against this and tries to convince the court that it was murder. The images could be of service, the OM reported on Tuesday during a pre-trial hearing of the court.

During last year’s lawsuit, the images were not shown in the court in Rotterdam. The public prosecutor at the time, E.’s lawyer and the next of kin would rather not have it. The images are described in detail in the file. It states that on December 18, 2018, Hümeyra was shot at close range with several bullets after she fell to the ground during her flight in the bicycle shed of the Rotterdam Design College.

During the pre-trial review, various investigative wishes of the judiciary and defense were discussed. E. himself requested the court to hear his case behind closed doors. “I’m afraid I won’t be able to speak up otherwise,” said E. The chances of getting treatment behind closed doors seems small. “If there is one case that needs to be dealt with before society and in which the suspect has to account for himself in public, this is it,” said the prosecution.

E.’s lawyer Yehudi Moszkowicz wants to call E.’s father as a witness during the substantive hearing of the appeal. He can explain, among other things, about a telephone conversation he had with his son before the shooting. Father and son agreed in the telephone conversation that E. would walk the dog. According to Moszkowicz, this confirms that his client had no preconceived plan to kill Hümeyra shortly afterwards. The OM has no objection to hearing E.

Moszkowicz also wants to hear the two men who were in the car with E. on that day, because their statements differ slightly from each other. Justice does not oppose this either, “because there is a lot at stake for the defense.”
