OM: suspected bombing Saudi embassy had terrorist intent

The 40-year-old man who is detained for shooting the Saudi Arabian embassy in The Hague is suspected of acting with terrorist intent. The Public Prosecution has announced this.

The suspect from Zoetermeer was arrested in his hometown on Thursday afternoon, after that morning more than twenty shots were unloaded at the embassy. There were bullet holes in the walls and windows of the building. Nobody was hurt.

The man is suspected of, among other things, threats and attempted murder or manslaughter of the guard of the building, writes Broadcaster West. The OM states that he acted with a terrorist objective because he “seems to want to impose his will on the embassy with his act”. He had already been fined once for defacing the building.

The suspect’s custody has been extended by fourteen days today. The police are still investigating and are looking for witnesses who saw the man around the time of the shooting.
